Feilding Open Day 2025

Today Feilding Aerodrome and the weather was mostly good for the day, got a bit overcast around midday otherwise no wind and lots of blue sky.

Nice to see this outside, rarely goes anywhere!

A109 arriving for its static display

Highlight of the day! Huge thanks to Rob for allowing to look after the aircraft, especially whilst it was departing.

Newish resident to Feilding

New one for me and the newest resident at Feilding.

A huge surprise was seeing this outside, i've never seen it outside the hangar in all my time being at Feilding!

All in all, was a great day out and I bagged 4 new ones. Next event will most likely be the Waipukurau dawn raid in 2 weeks' time. If that event gets cancelled, I will most likely not be posting much as will be on holiday.

Waikato Visit 13-04-2025

A pleasant day was forecasted for yesterday so I decided to take advantage of this and do a long drive up to the Waikato and see what I could find at the airfields around.

First port of call was Taupo for breakfast, with the motorsport race on at Taupo over the weekend, there was a few visiting aircraft around for it, including a nice bizjet. Here is what i saw:

Visiting Aircraft:
VH-VVI Learjet 45
ZK-EOS Cessna 172N
ZK-HBJ Bell 206B
ZK-HGF Robinson R22 Beta
ZK-HWH McDonnell Douglas 500N

ZK-SNZ GAF Nomad N22C (De-Registered)
ZK-TTS Cessna 208
ZK-UWE Cessna 172N
ZK-ZSP Partenavia P 68B

Next stop on the trip was Tokoroa, I don't often stop here as usually nothing is happening and that was still the case, no aircraft activity was happening, only model aircraft gathering. One aircraft was outside, the local Aeroprakt A-22LS ZK-LFD.

onwards to Hamilton where there was a bit more aircraft around, the biggest surprise was a Diamond DA62 on the Denmark register! I believe is on a demo tour as I recently saw this in Australia doing a local flight. Sadly, wasn't in a good spot for a photo.

Here is what I saw anyway:

Visiting Aircraft:
OY-RZE Diamond DA.62
ZK-DIM Diamond DA 40 D
ZK-DXY Cessna 172M
ZK-HNP MBB-MBB BK117 B-2

ZK-TSD Piper PA-34-200T
ZK-WGA Diamond DA 42
ZK-WKF Cessna 172S

Next stop was Te Kowhai, sadly there was pretty much zero activity, but did note these aircraft through some open hangars:

Visiting Aircraft:

ZK-CJP Jabiru UL-T
ZK-MJK Flylight Airsports Skyranger Swift 2
ZK-SAJ Aeroprakt A-22LS
ZK-SRG Tecnam P2002 Sierra RG
ZK-WER Alpi Aviation Pioneer 200

Next stop was at a school by Cambridge as I had heard there was a Helicopter that had been put there to be used as part of their playground and I was right, I found Kawasaki BK117 C-1 XA-UBP there

Last stop of the day was back to Taupo, I was going to stop at Centennial Park but that was closed off to use as parking due to it being next door to the racetrack for the motor sport. It was also being used as a heliport, which only had Airbus Helicopters AS 350 BA ZK-HBR there as I went past.

Here is what was different at Taupo this time around:

Visiting Aircraft:
ZK-DIW Piper PA-28-140
ZK-HYN Aerospatiale AS 355 F1
ZK-SXL Air Tractor AT-602

Local Aircraft:
ZK-HZD Airbus Helicopters AS 350 BA

A very good day indeed and I bagged 4 new aircraft for myself. The next report will most likely be about the Cirrus Demo plane coming to Kapiti on the 21st April.
