Tiger Moth Spring Fly-In 2022 #3

Firstly, apologies on the late posting on this, got home late on Monday evening and have since been busy.

Secondly, on the day due to rushing around all the fields, I didn't take any photos of the aircraft.

With that out of the way, on with the last and final day of the trip up north.

Woke up on Monday to find a nice clear sky so hoped to see some nice aircraft out. So, after having breakfast at Auckland Airport whilst watching the aircraft at the lookout, we went around Auckland looking at the various helipads around.

First point of call was Pikes Point Helipad, home to Advanced Flight Limited. Here is what I saw:

Lovely to see this one up from Omaka!

Isn't a Tiger Moth Gathering without the Venom doing some high-speed passes.

Nice to see the local Bantam outside and partake in the comps

A new one for me, such a Marvelous looking aircraft!

First time i've known a Cresco to actually stop and park up for a fly-in, nice!

New one for me, down from North Shore

Only my 2nd time seeing this lovely looking Cub Crafters.

A big surprise to see join the overhead, a Cessna Skyknight!

First time getting a pic of this lovely little Cessna 120

Nice to see ZK-BFF up in the air again, looking forward to seeing her with her new owners.

Only my second time seeing this lovely little Auster.

My last new one for the day, down from North Shore

A Tiger Moth I haven't seen for a while, down from Ardmore.

Tomorrow, I continue my trip up to Auckland where i'll be for the night. Having a look at Te Kuiti, Te Kowhai and Ardmore airfields along the way.

Flat Hills Lunch Fly-In

Today I got up to see an overcast day, but the forecast was set to improve. So, I set off to Kapiti Airport to help getting the aircraft (ZK-MWM) ready for the flight to Flat Hills.

Pretty much bang on 10am we were airborne from Kapiti and the flight time being just about 50 minutes. Just after Levin the weather opened up to showing a bit bluer sky, which remained for the remainder of the event.

A good turnout for the first time i've been to a fly-in there, 40 total aircraft flying in from all over the North Island and even Nelson!

Here is everything I saw during the day; all aircraft were visiting as nothing lives at the strip:

And then the highlights for me:

Will always love seeing this Piper Turbo Saratoga!

First time seeing an Academy aircraft actually stop for a fly-in, nice!

Down from North Shore, don't see a robin often!

Always a treat when a Nanchang arrives for a fly-in!

A new one for me, AutoGyro MTOsport ZK-RBE from Gisborne.

Not seen out often and nice to see arrive, Quicksilver ZK-KTA

Another not seen out often is Piper PA-18 ZK-CIA from Taupo

Off to Taumarunui next weekend for the Tiger Moth Spring Fly-In then a night in Auckland on Sunday. Looking forward to it as this fly-in is always a must!
